Weekend Review - Vol. 9

February 26-27, 2022

Hello hello! How are you? How was your weekend? We had a good one over here.

Special shoutout to these bagel/egg sandwiches I made for Friday lunch!

We started the weekend with some snow and a beautiful walk through the park Friday afternoon! These late winter sunsets have been so beautiful. Also so amazing that the sun is setting later and later! There's still light when I take Millie for her walk at 5pm.

Saturday, we got up early and drove to Alpine Valley Ski Resort in Elkhorn. We took a ski lesson! This was my first time ever skiing and Dan's second (he went once when he was a kid). Unfortunately I took literally zero pictures. It was enough to just worry about staying upright and moving in the right direction, lol. We liked the skiing, although the boots were something to really get used to! It got really, really busy as the morning went on - I knew it was going to be busy, but it was more than I was expecting. There were lines on lines to get on the little bunny hills where we were practicing, and then once you got to the top and got off the conveyor belt, there were clumps of people waiting for a clear path to ski down, and then you had to be careful at the bottom because the lines to go up the hill queued in front of the bottom of the hill. While I was enjoying the actual skiing part, I found all of the lines and crowds overwhelming and stressful. Dan did a few bigger hills with some friends we met up with there while I stayed on the small ones. We left after a few hours and stopped for lunch on our way home at East Troy Brewery. We got cheese curds + pizza, because what could be better after spending the morning skiing?? The food was awesome, and the place was so cute! Seriously, those cheese curds were incredible. Some of the best we've had!

When we got home on Saturday afternoon we were wiped! After showering and walking the dog, we took naps, lol. We had leftovers for dinner and had a very chill evening!

On Sunday we woke up (very sore lol) and took Millie to a new (to us) dog park, Granville. This place was awesome!! We had a great experience. There were only a few cars in the parking lot so we only saw three or four other dogs which was nice. It has some really nice winding paths through the forest, and there was still lots of snow which Millie loved. I think it is only fenced on three sides, with a small river on the fourth side as a barrier. I was glad we got to try this out when it wasn't too crowded, and Millie did awesome! She had so much fun running around but was also really engaged with us and did a great job coming when called.

Our afternoon and evening were pretty calm. I made this cheesy lemon orzo for dinner from Everyday Dinners which was so good! We rounded out the weekend by seeing Beach House play at Riverside Theatre on Sunday night. The show was really fun - they had tons of cool visual effects and the crowd was so energetic.

What did you do this weekend?
