Weekend Review - Vol. 8

 February 19-20, 2022

Hello hello! How are you? How was your weekend? I had a great weekend! I got to see a few friends I haven't seen in years and it was awesome.

Friday night I made these incredible salmon soba noodle bowls! This was so so good. The nutty noodles, the sweet and saucy salmon, and the salty/crunchy vegetables. Amazing, and the leftovers were divine!

Saturday morning was soooo cold when we woke up. We spent the day mostly at home! We did some cleaning and a ton of laundry. I took Millie for a nice walk and we got this gorgeous sunset! I had a headache in the evening so we took it easy.

Sunday morning we headed up to Mequon and checked out Katherine Kearny Park with Millie. We had a really good experience here! It is an off-leash dog park with a wide path through a wooded area. Millie looooved it. It wasn't too busy and we liked that you could choose if you wanted your dog to play with other dogs or if you wanted to walk the path. We are looking forward to going back sometime in the summer! Then we headed to the Dollar Store and waited with like five other people for it to open, lol. I wasn't expecting it to be so busy at 10am on a Sunday morning!

Then we met up with my college roommate and her husband for brunch at Cafe Benelux! We popped into Collectivo first and I got an iced London fog. The temperature was like upper 40's/low 50's which felt balmy, so it was exciting to have an iced drink and almost felt like spring. At Benelux, we ordered the beignets to start. They were hot and fresh and doughy! I got the mushroom hash which was great! Unfortunately I did not take any pictures, but it was because I was really enjoying catching up! It was so nice to share stories of college and also appreciate how far we have come. We got home and I spent some time on the floor with Millie.

For dinner, I got to meet up with a friend I worked with in 2017 and haven't seen since then! We worked and lived together at an orchestral music festival in Vail, Colorado. She was visiting Milwaukee for the long weekend after moving to Chicago within the last year. We had dinner at Bel Air Cantina where I got some tacos that were great!! I had so much fun catching up and reminiscing together.

It was such a fun weekend and so good to catch up with so many old friends. It really felt like it refilled that part of my mental cup, you know? I hope you got to have something like that in your weekend, too!
