February Favorites

Phew! Another month down. This went both faster than January and still kind of slow. But we packed a lot in! I'm really really glad to have more light, later sunsets, slightly warmer temps, and hints of spring. I used to really dislike spring, and still have a hard time dressing for the weather lol, but the past few years I've tried to lean into it and I'm really looking forward to the season now. Also, having the dog this year makes me really appreciate #1 getting to walk her while its light out, and #2 not having to put on your biggest heaviest warmest clothing when you walk her. Luckily, she loves the warmer (and muddier) spring weather as much she loves the cold and snow! Here's what I've been into the last month.

EATING

- Big fat PB oatmeal cookies

- Sugar oatmeal cookies from Midwest Made. These are a snicker doodle + oatmeal cookie + chocolate chip combo, plus they are a little extra salty. Soooo good.

- freezer burritos. This month I had the genius idea to take some of my leftovers burritos and freeze them. Amazing!

- chia pudding. I started with this recipe and have been making my own variations. So good! Kind of like overnight oats but nice to be a little different.

- crispy orange cauliflower + coconut rice from Everyday Dinners. This recipe is sooo good! The sauce is to die for.

- flourless chocolate cake. made this for Valentine's Day. rich and delicious!

- fried fish tacos. Also from Everyday Dinners. These were so much easier than I was expecting!

- cinnamon bread toast. Just the regular cinnamon swirl (raisin optional) bread toasted with butter and a little flaky sea salt on top. Divine.

- oranges. citrus season is coming to an end and I loved every minute! We especially enjoyed cara cara oranges this year.

- Tea. I had a few London Fog lattes this month and they were so good! Going to try making one at home :)

- lemon blueberry bread. this was pretty tasty but more dense/less fluffy than I was expecting

- East Troy Brewing pizza + cheese curds. Still thinking about this post-ski meal!

- bagel sandwiches with an egg and red pesto. I also added avocado, cheese, and spinach. So good!

- salmon soba bowls. These were insaaaane! So saucy.

READING

Much slower reading month, but that's okay :)

- Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Wow, this book was good! It is supposed to be loosely based off of Fleetwood Mac's story. The book was told through interview excerpts of the band and other important people in their orbit. I love her other book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and liked this one equally much!!

- How to Be Idle by Tom Hodgkinson. This book is interesting. Some of it I really like/agree with, and some of it is so unrealistic I can't tell if the author is joking or not. I like the passages where he discusses power/control (who really benefits from productivity or "grind" culture) and removing morality from something like waking up early. Also, I've been reading it before bed and it puts me to sleep, in a good way, lol.

WATCHING

- Hacks. This show was so dang good! Did not know what to expect going into it and it made me truly laugh out loud.

- This is Us. Not sure if this counts for the month since I think they only did one episode in February, lol. Drives me crazy!

- Bachelor. I am very interested to see how this ends!

- Amazing Race. Looooove. We are team Arun and Natalia and are really looking forward to the finale.

- Maid. Wow, this show! My sister recommended it and it was really special. At times frustrating but all the characters felt so dimensional.

- Only Murders in the Building. Ah! Loved it! Discussed this with a friend who I just watched Father of the Bride 2 with, and we loved getting to watch Steve Martin + Martin Short act together over such a long period of time. And, I love Selena Gomez!

- Olympics. We watched bits and pieces of this! I watched a lot of Team USA outfit try ons on Tiktok lol. Not mad about it.

- Survivor seasons 29, 30, and 31. Okay, there is a wide variety here in these seasons, lol. Season 29 was great! Loved watching Natalie win and thought blood vs. water done a second time was really interesting. Season 30, uhhhh. Hmm. Not the best, really didn't like the pre-merge much, but I was actually pretty invested by the end. Season 31, amazing! I kept telling Dan I couldn't believe how much of the cast I really liked and was genuinely rooting for.

PLAYING

- Worldle....continues on. Following the debate about whether or not it is harder or just seems harder since acquired by NYT is fascinating.

- Words with Friends. Cannot be stopped.

- Mario...we've slowed down, but still so fun!

What were you loving this month??
