'Tis the season to be coming up with creative & thoughtful gifts for all the people in your life! If you're like me, you love to find something just right. Gifting something edible is a great way to show people you're thinking about them! Here are five food gifts to consider this holiday season.
Cocktail Kit
Do you know someone's absolute favorite, specialty cocktail? Or maybe they are looking to discover their new go-to drink? Do you have a fond memory of being at a certain bar and having this drink and then you sang that karoake song and it was the best night ever? Try putting together a cocktail kit! Include everything needed to make the drink - any bitters, alcohol, syrups, mixers. Add fun garnishes that maybe the recipient wouldn't usually be inclined to buy! You could even get special glasses or ice cube molds!
Sourdough Starter
Did you get really into bread baking in the pandemic? This is the gift for you! If you have a friend who likes to try something new, consider gifting them some of your sourdough starter! Include your favorite ways to use it, and of course directions for how to keep it going. You could even add the specific type of flour you have been using, and definitely put it in a cute jar!
Hot Chocolate Mix
Okay, I know this is such a basic idea. But I want you to consider the many ways you can customize this and take it to the next level! Consider adding a jar of caramel (homemade or store bought), flaky sea sea salt, and Pirouette cookies. Or, you could make it candy cane theme by making peppermint hot chocolate mix, add peppermint Oreos, and some cute candy canes. Make it grown-up hot cocoa by including a bottle of Kahlua. Not to mention, there are about a million cute packaging ideas for this online!
Pasta Night
Who doesn't love pasta?? Look for some specialty noodles or fun shape! You could include your favorite jarred sauce, or even include some of your own special, homemade sauce (just double it next time you make a batch!). Add a bottle of wine and you're all set.
Cookie Box
Of course, a staple of the holidays! There's just something special about getting a box of cookies from someone you love. I love hearing stories about people's baking memories - include a favorite recipe on a cute card to pass along the tradition (if the recipe isn't top secret).
