Weekend Review

Hi! Happy Monday! We had a really wonderful long weekend and holiday. On Thursday I finished cooking and we enjoyed our meal! You can see our appetizers below - crescent roll+brie bites, and a lovely charcuterie board. It was way too much food for just the two of us! But it was very delicious. We also watched the parade, called our families, did some reading, and relaxed.

On Friday we didn't do much and mostly just relaxed around our apartment. We went for a walk in a nearby park and got some stunning views of the lake around sunset.

We drove up to Horicon Marsh on Saturday and walked the trails. It was a wonderfully sunny day! It was so neat to see another beautiful Wisconsin nature preserve. We also read about the history of this area and it is so interesting to learn all of the different things it has been. It was once flooded, then drained, then tried to use as farmland but nothing would grow, and even had a 12 year period where the fields constantly smoldered. It's great to see how much the land has recovered after all of the damage that has previously been done to it.

They have this big wooly mammoth sculpture there. Impressive!

On Saturday evening, we drove to see a Christmas light display called "Candy Cane Lane". It's a few blocks in a nearby neighborhood that go all out for the holidays, with a suggested donation to drive through. We saw some really creative houses! We are hoping to see lots of festive displays this year and this was a strong start.

I thought this van and triangle tree display was so cute!

You could see these houses all lit up from a mile away!

On Sunday we did some online holiday shopping as well as some tasks around the house. I watched The Christmas Chronicles and actually quite enjoyed it! I thought it was pretty cute. We also watched Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker which focuses on the Debbie Allen Dance Academy's annual performance of the Hot Chocolate Nutcracker (their take on the classic ballet). This movie was so cool!! I love dance and find it sooo fascinating and beautiful. They followed some promising young dancers and even did a "where are they now" at the end. Incredible! Very much worth the watch. What have you been watching lately? Any good suggestions? I've been getting back into Great British Baking Show and also just started the newest season of The Crown with my mom!

How was your weekend??
