January Favorites

Hi! How are ya? Sorry its been quiet over here for a few weeks! My schedule has been off recently and we've been in and out of town so I haven't been able to post as much. But hoping to change that this week! I wanted to share some of the things I was loving in January.

EATING

- Black bean burgers. I think what really made these were the sesame brioche buns we got from Aldi.

- Florida food! I covered all of the food we have in the weekend review from the trip! Everything we ate was sooo good.

- French onion mushroom pasta. Added beans and this totally hit the spot.

- Kind blueberry breakfast bars. We ate these in Florida for breakfast and they were awesome! Then I bought the peanut butter banana version and I don't like that flavor as much.

- Burritos. The phase continues, but perhaps slightly less strong than December

- Cinnamon swirl bread. We ate this at Dan's parents house and then we bought a loaf and ate in a week. So we will definitely buy another one haha.

- Cannoli dip. So good with apples, pretzels, graham crackers.

READING

This was a good reading month! I read like three books when were on vacation and read another when I was resting after the dog bite. Which wasn't fun, but it gave me lots of time to read!

- Dogs on the Trail by Blair Braverman. So cute! Lots of pictures and short stories. She lives in Wisconsin which is so cool!

- Always, in December by Emily Stone.

- It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark.

- Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane.

- The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan. I liked this! Shared more in this weekend review :)

WATCHING

- Harry Potter special. I loooved this. Watched it on New Year's Day and it was just so cozy and nostalgic. I heard that Dan, Emma, and Rupert filmed their part separately and it was CGI'd so it would look like they were in the same room.

- Rose Parade. This was just nice. I didn't watch the Macy's parade this year and lowkey missed it. I liked the all band directors marching band.

- Love Life (season 2). Loved this!! Although I don't love when I watch tv that deeply references the pandemic (too much after living it for the past two years). But still good!

- Bachelor. This season has had highs and lows already but so far I'm overall enjoying it. It feels a little lighter than the past few seasons. I like Clayton but I'm not like totally invested in him. The drama is dumb but soooo entertaining.

- Amazing Race. Looooooving this! Dan and I watch together every week.

- This is Us. Okay, so far so good. It does drive me crazy that they do four episodes and then take a two week break lol. But I'm way committed to this show. I think it's only made me cry once this season!

- Kim's Convenience. We started this and didn't love it...I don't think we will continue.

- Frozen 2. I rewatched this one night and it just made me feel calm. Nice.

- Beatles: Get Back (part 1). So interesting! Although I feel like you have to pay close attention but simultaneously not that much happens?

- Nailed It (season 6). Amazing. We love this show.

- Cheer (season 2). Okay, wow! We watched this while we were in Florida. It was so interesting to see how the fame that the first season brought Navarro tore them down this season.

- Survivor (seasons 27 and 28). Season 27, Blood vs. Water was sooooo good. For sure one of my top 5 seasons so far. I loved Tyson as a winner, I loved most of the returning players, I thought the family members did a good job playing too, and just loved loved loved the season. Season 28, Cagayan (Brains v. Brawn v. Beauty) was good. It's Tony's first season, and I know some people really really favor this season and think it's the best season of all time. I....don't quite agree. But, it was great. It really did feel like everyone came to play super hard, which made for a great game. I loved Tasha!! Spencer and Woo, too. Lots of good characters.

- Encanto. I watched this back in November in theaters with my parents but then rewatched with Dan at home. So good! Also, the music is constantly stuck in my head since it is like 50% of all Tiktoks.

- Plan B. I liked this movie! Cute and heartwarming, but not overly dramaticized.

- Hacks. This show is cracking us up!

PLAYING

- more Mario from last month!

- Words with Friends. I was very into this like ten years ago, and then I had a friend reintroduce it to me, and then I played it for three hours in a row the next day. Safe to say I'm loving it.

- Wordle. I know, everyone is playing this. But...its fun! Dan and I do it together. I don't care if that's cheating, lol.

What were you into this month?
