We had a suuuuper cold weekend! Feels in the single digits/negatives! So it was mostly an inside weekend for us.
On Friday, we volunteered at the local humane society and walked some dogs! We used to have a consistent schedule there and volunteered weekly all of 2019, but then they shut down most of the volunteers when the pandemic started in March 2020. They've slowly brought back volunteers in the recent months. We don't have a regular shift, but fill in as needed, which has been great for us! Friday was very chilly, so we gave the dogs short walks. Some didn't seem to mind - I had a dog who kept laying down in the huge piles of snow!
On Saturday I had a productive day at home! I made some waffles (using up old mix in our cabinet), repotted a few plants, did some cleaning, and made some bread. P.s. - if you have a good wheat bread recipe, please send it my way!! Testing a few out and trying to find a good one. I do not have a bread maker or a large mixer, just btw! The bread I made turned out pretty well - it was a honey oat bread, so on the slightly sweeter side. However, it was a little denser than I was hoping for....so the journey continues.
I also took a very short walk on Saturday afternoon, lol. I felt kind of antsy and wanted to get out of the house! I went around the block all bundled up and by the time I got back my knees were frozen (the only part of my body that wasn't double/triple layered). It was perfect timing to have a hot chocolate!
We played Among Us (virtually) with a group of friends on Saturday night. This has become one of our favorite parts of the week! I always look forward to it. :)
On Sunday, we had a relaxing morning. We did some laundry and then had a Zoom call for Dan's mom's birthday! I made some food for the Superbowl - nachos, queso, and some vegan date brownies. I did not actually watch much of the game - I've started watching Survivor from the first season so I was watching that instead!
