Halloweekend Roundup! Activities and Recipes

Hey everyone! Happy Hall - o - weekend! Ha. I couldn't resist! Anyway, I rounded up some recipes and activity ideas that are festive but still simple enough to complete with minimal planning. Festivity knows no age! And this year, I am trying to make things feel extra special for holidays since so many other things have changed. So, I hope you get to make your own magic this weekend - here a few ideas if you're still wondering what to do/make!

These monster cookies would be extra Halloween-y if you have orange M&M's. Oh or maybe even pumpkin spice M&M's! Do they sell those? Lol. I love peanut butter + oats + chocolate. You can't go wrong! You could even add little candy eyes - maybe like this picture?? That makes everything spookier!

Pumpkin bars are calling my name! I don't have any pumpkin butter in my cabinet but it sounds like it is relatively straightforward to make. I found copycat recipes here and here!

From a fall festival last year....I'm in this picture for size reference!

A chili bar for Halloween! Think all kinds of toppings like Fritos, noodles (chili mac), tortilla chips, avocado, cilantro, green onions, corn bread, dinner rolls, shredded cheese...you could even do multiple types of chili! This butternut squash chipotle chili is my absolute FAVORITE and is made frequently at my house in the fall. I also think this quick chili looks simple and delicious! Perfect if you need to throw chili together quickly or if you just don't want to spend a long time in the kitchen!

If you're not a candy fan, this pumpkin dream cake is everything it claims to be...dreamy! I made it earlier this year and brought some to my parents. I heard it was devoured very quickly (as it was at my house, too!). You could totally dress this up too....add those little pumpkin candy corns on top, some sprinkles or spooky Oreo+icing spiders, or maybe even make a little Halloween scene! So cute.

This Snickers almond butter tarte looks like grown up Halloween candy and I love it. Looks so rich and delicious! If you've never cooked with almond flour do not be afraid. I actually really enjoy the taste and texture - I think it makes for a perfect shortbread-type layer. Almond flour is sold at most grocery stores, and I can even find it at Aldi now! Or, sub the layer with your preferred shortbread recipe.

If you're looking for activities, there are lots of fun Halloween movies, of course! We watched Hocus Pocus last weekend. I haven't seen it in sooo long, and I thought it held up really well! And honestly, the dance scene is iconic. Don't forget to check your local library!

We've been doing a Harry Potter movie marathon all month long! I've always been a fan so revisiting the movies has been special. The nostalgia is so real and I totally love it.

Take a spooky drive/walk! Some neighborhoods organize this more than others, but its so fun to drive or walk around your area and look at the spooky decorations. Is it just me or have people gone a little harder on the decor this year?? I feel like its because we're all home more! Another fun project and thing to do. And perfect for neighborhood-decoration-gawkers like me. Love it.

This drive wasn't spooky, but the colors on the trees made it feel festive!

Make a themed craft like this Tassel Ghost Garland! This seems simple to complete and oh-so-cute. Perfect to do while listening to a spooky podcast!

I hope this gives you some fun, easy ideas of things to make this weekend extra festive. Let me know how you're planning to celebrate Halloween this year!
